Pierre's Branch Found
I pleased to report that Pierre Bustanoby's branch of the family has been located! I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Pierre's grandchildren, Jacqueline Lovering and Victor Carlin at a brunch on May 1st at La Cote Basque in Manhattan.
Both Jackie and Victor are working together to gather information to bring their grandfather's side of the tree up to date and fill in any holes they can in the family's history.
80 West 40th Street
I also was able to visit 80 West 40th Street on this trip to NYC and have coffee in the very spot where years ago Bustanoby patrons dined. I have been in touch with David Seeve, this spectacular building's current manager and he was kind enough to share the history of the building and suggest contacting a Ms. Anna Kimley. Anna lived in the Beaux Arts Studios with her family as a little girl. Her father, Mr. John M. Johnnidis, took over the restaurant from the Bustanoby's. In fact, Jacques Bustanoby was her father's first boss and he was so fond of him that Jacques photo hung in their house for many years.
Jacqueline Bustanoby?
I received an e-mail from Lilia Rodriguez looking for information about Jacqueline Bustanoby, Jacques' daughter with Doris Easton Bustanoby (his third wife). Lilia believes that her family is connected to Jacqueline and would like to find out any information she can about her. If you have anything to share, please let me know and I will pass it on to her.
New Treasures
I recently acquired an album of newspaper clippings that chronicles the history of the Chateau Beaux Arts from 1907 until 1993 when it burned down. As soon as I get a chance, I will scan and post this collection for everyone to enjoy.
East Coast Reunion?
There has been talk of an East Coast reunion. If you are interested in attending such an event, let me know.
